Yes, Disney owned DIC Entertainment for a period in the 1990s. Disney acquired the animation studio to bolster its television library and production capabilities. However, in 2000, Andy Heyward, the original founder of DIC, reacquired the company from Disney through a partnership with Bain Capital and Chase Capital Partners. Following the reacquisition, the company remained independent for several years until it was eventually purchased by Cookie Jar Entertainment in 2008. Consequently, while DIC was a part of the Disney corporate family for a time, it has since changed hands multiple times and is now largely folded into the library of WildBrain.
