Yes, several residents survived the catastrophic Frank Slide of April 29, 1903, in the Crowsnest Pass of Alberta, though between 70 and 90 people tragically lost their lives. Out of the entire population residing in the path of the massive limestone avalanche, roughly a dozen people managed to escape or were rescued from the debris field. Among the most famous survival stories were several miners who were trapped inside the underground tunnels when the slide blocked the entrance but managed to dig their way out, along with a few local residents whose homes were miraculously spared on the outer edges of the destruction zone.
