In fact, the reverse occurred in a specific segment of their business: in late 2018, WellCare Health Plans, Inc. completed the acquisition of Aetna's standalone Medicare Part D prescription drug plans. Under the terms of the deal, Aetna continued to provide administrative services and assumed the financial risk for these plans through the end of 2019 to ensure a smooth transition for the more than 2 million affected members.
