A Champion toilet seemingly flushing by itself—often referred to as "ghost flushing"—is caused by water slowly leaking from the storage tank down into the bowl through a compromised flush valve seal or a warped flapper. When the water level in the tank drops below a certain threshold due to this slow seepage, the fill valve automatically kicks on to refill the tank. Replacing the worn 4-inch silicone seal ring at the base of the canister immediately resolves this issue.
