If a sewer gas odor is strictly isolated to a single bathroom, the issue is usually caused by a dried-out P-trap in an unused shower or floor drain, a cracked or unsealed toilet wax ring, a dirty sink overflow channel, or a loose mechanical air admittance valve under the sink. Because plumbing branches are isolated, a compromised vapor barrier in just one room will allow sewer gases to vent directly into that specific space without affecting the rest of the home. Verification: Pour water down all drains in the suspect bathroom and inspect the base of the toilet for leaks.
