Pitt Stadium was demolished to make room for the Petersen Events Center and the integrative medical and life sciences facilities of the University of Pittsburgh. While alumni harbored deep nostalgia for legendary football moments housed within its walls, transitioning to sharing Acrisure Stadium with the Pittsburgh Steelers provided a modern, fan-friendly professional venue while freeing up central campus space for student life buildings.
