I Go Crazy was written by Paul Davis himself. It was one of his most successful compositions and became his signature hit. Paul Davis was American singer songwriter from Meridian, Mississippi, known for writing his own material as well as writing for other artists. I Go Crazy was released in 1977 on his album Singer of Songs: Teller of Tales and became major hit in 1977 and 1978, reaching Top 10 on Billboard Hot 100 and setting record at time for longest chart run. The song showcases his soft rock style with soulful vocals and emotional lyrics about lingering love after breakup. Davis wrote many of his own hits including 65 Love Affair and Cool Night, and also wrote for other artists like Marie Osmond and Tanya Tucker. I Go Crazy has been covered by numerous artists over years, including country versions, but original songwriting credit belongs solely to Paul Davis, who was member of Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame recognition for his songwriting craft.
