Marie Brizard (1714–1801) was an pioneering French businesswoman and distiller from Bordeaux who founded the legendary liqueur company that bears her name. According to historical company lore, she established her distillery after nursing a sick Caribbean sailor back to health, who in turn gifted her a secret recipe for crafting premium anise-based liqueurs that launched a centuries-long global spirits empire.
