Pfister is now owned by Assa Abloy, a Swedish global leader in access solutions and door hardware. The ownership history is complex. Pfister was founded in 1910 as Price Pfister Brass Manufacturing Company in Los Angeles by Emil Price and William Pfister and remained independent for decades. In 1988, it was acquired by Black & Decker, an American tool company. Black & Decker merged with Stanley in 2010 to become Stanley Black & Decker, so Pfister became part of Stanley Black & Decker's hardware division. In 2012, Stanley Black & Decker sold its hardware and home improvement division, including Pfister, Kwikset, and Baldwin, to Spectrum Brands, a US consumer products company, for $1.4 billion. Spectrum Brands owned Pfister from 2012 to 2022. In September 2021, Spectrum Brands announced it would sell its Hardware and Home Improvement division to Assa Abloy for $4.3 billion. That deal closed in June 2022 after regulatory approval. So as of 2026, Pfister is owned by Assa Abloy, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. Assa Abloy also owns Yale, Kwikset, Baldwin, and many lock brands. Despite Swedish ownership, Pfister continues to operate as an American brand with headquarters in Lake Forest, California, and design and engineering in the US, serving the North American plumbing market.
