Yes, Pfister is an American company with over 115 years of history in the United States, though its ownership is now international. Pfister was founded in 1910 as Price Pfister Brass Manufacturing Company in Los Angeles, California, by Emil Price, a mechanical engineer, and William Pfister, a businessman. The company started in a small shop in downtown Los Angeles making garden faucets and quickly grew into one of the largest faucet manufacturers in the US. For most of the 20th century, Pfister was family-owned and headquartered in California, with factories in the US. In 1988, Price Pfister was acquired by Black & Decker, an American company. Later, in 2010, Pfister was acquired by Stanley Black & Decker. In 2012, Pfister was sold to Spectrum Brands, and in 2022, Spectrum Brands' hardware division, including Pfister, was acquired by Assa Abloy, a Swedish global lock and hardware company. Despite being owned by a Swedish parent company today, Pfister still operates as an American brand, with its headquarters in Lake Forest, California, design and engineering in the US, and significant US distribution. Its products are designed for the US market and meet US standards for lead-free compliance. So while ownership is now Swedish, Pfister remains an American-founded and American-operated brand, similar to how many American brands are owned internationally.
