NET Power's technology works through an innovative all-oxy-combustion supercritical carbon dioxide cycle. Instead of burning natural gas with air—which creates dilute combustion gases mixed with nitrogen—the system combusts natural gas with high-purity oxygen using recycled, supercritical carbon dioxide as the working fluid. This high-pressure fluid drives a specialized turbine to generate electricity. Because the exhaust consists purely of carbon dioxide and water vapor, the water is easily condensed out, and the carbon dioxide is captured cleanly without needing expensive post-combustion scrubbers.
