The primary, fiercest, and most historic athletic rivalry for Texas Christian University is against its long-standing in-state conference adversary, Southern Methodist University. Universally known as the "Battle for the Iron Skillet," this annual gridiron showdown represents one of the oldest and most passionately contested college football series in the Southwest, bringing together alumni, students, and fans from both institutions to compete for regional bragging rights.
