Shaw is owned by Rogers Communications, which acquired Shaw Communications in 2023 for 26 billion dollars, making Shaw part of Rogers, one of largest telecommunications companies in Canada. Shaw Communications, founded in 1966 by JR Shaw in Edmonton, Alberta, was Canadian telecommunications company providing internet, cable TV, and phone services in Western Canada, with Shaw Internet, Shaw Mobile, and Shaw Direct satellite. In March 2021, Rogers Communications announced acquisition of Shaw for 20 billion plus debt totaling 26 billion, and after regulatory approval by CRTC and Competition Bureau, deal closed April 3, 2023, making Shaw subsidiary of Rogers. So Shaw owned by Rogers Communications, headquartered in Toronto, with Shaw brand still used for internet in Western Canada as Shaw Internet, now powered by Rogers, with Shaw services integrated into Rogers. Previously Shaw was family-owned by Shaw family with JR Shaw as founder. Now Rogers owns Shaw, operating Shaw as division, with Shaw customers becoming Rogers customers. So who is Shaw owned by is Rogers Communications since 2023 acquisition, making Rogers largest cable and internet provider in Canada with Shaw integration, though Shaw name still used for legacy services in Alberta, BC, and Manitoba.
