Comparing the open-field speed of Michael Vick and Lamar Jackson presents a fascinating debate between two of the most electrifying dual-threat quarterbacks in the history of professional football, each redefining mobility at the position in distinct eras. Michael Vick famously clocked a blistering 4.33-second time in the 40-yard dash during his pre-draft preparation, displaying breathtaking straight-line acceleration and breakaway speed that left defenders grasping at air during his prime years with the Atlanta Falcons. Lamar Jackson, meanwhile, chose not to run the formal 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine, but his game-speed is legendary, highlighted by record-breaking rushing campaigns, astonishing elusiveness, and fluid change-of-direction capabilities that make him arguably the most difficult player to tackle in open space. While Vick may hold the statistical edge in raw linear track speed testing metrics, Jackson showcases an unprecedented blend of agility, vision, and sudden burst, making it nearly impossible to declare a definitive winner between two generational running talents.
