Clopay is owned by Griffon Corporation, which is a publicly traded diversified management and holding company listed on NYSE under symbol GFF, headquartered in New York City, with Clopay Building Products headquartered in Mason, Ohio. Griffon Corporation acquired Clopay in 1986 and has owned it since, operating Clopay as its largest subsidiary in Consumer and Professional Products segment. Griffon also owns CornellCookson for commercial doors and other building products brands. Griffon Corporation is American conglomerate with annual revenue over 2.5 billion dollars, owning Clopay and other companies. Clopay itself was founded in 1964 and became largest residential garage door manufacturer in North America, producing over 1 million doors annually, sold through Home Depot, dealers, and Costco, with Intellicore insulation technology. Despite ownership by Griffon, Clopay operates independently with its own management team, manufacturing plants in Ohio and other locations, and dealer network. So Clopay owned by Griffon Corporation, which is publicly traded company that has owned Clopay for nearly 40 years, making Clopay part of large building products group while maintaining brand independence and leadership in garage door market, with manufacturing in USA.
