Who has sued Fortnite, developed by Epic Games, has faced multiple lawsuits from various parties over years due to its popularity and business practices. One major category is lawsuits over dance emotes, where performers like Alfonso Ribeiro who played Carlton, rapper 2 Milly, and others sued Epic claiming their signature dances were copied as emotes without compensation, most of these lawsuits were dismissed or dropped because dance moves are difficult to copyright. Another lawsuit was filed by PUBG Corporation, makers of PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds, who sued Epic in South Korea claiming Fortnite Battle Royale copied its battle royale concept, that lawsuit was later withdrawn. Apple and Google were involved in lawsuits with Epic, but that was Epic suing Apple and Google over Fortnite removal from app stores due to payment system dispute, leading to landmark antitrust case Epic v Apple. Parents have sued Fortnite claiming game is addictive and harmful to children. In 2022, Epic Games settled with FTC for 520 million dollars over allegations related to Fortnite's privacy practices and dark patterns that tricked children into purchases. There have also been lawsuits over copyrighted music used in game. So many different individuals, companies, and regulators have sued Fortnite or Epic Games related to it.
