What is the number 1 game on Steam changes daily and can be measured by different metrics such as most played concurrently, top seller, or highest rated, but consistently top games include Counter Strike 2, Dota 2, and PUBG Battlegrounds for concurrent players. As of 2024 to 2025, Counter Strike 2, which replaced CS GO, is almost always number 1 or 2 for peak concurrent players, often reaching over 1.5 million concurrent players, making it most played game on Steam by active users. For top seller by revenue, rankings change with new releases like Baldur's Gate 3, Helldivers 2, and Call of Duty titles frequently topping charts. For highest rated of all time, games like Portal 2, Terraria, and Stardew Valley often rank highest by user review percentage. If measuring by all time peak players, PUBG holds record with over 3 million concurrent. If measuring by current most played, you can check Steam Charts website which tracks real time player counts, and typically Counter Strike 2 is number 1, followed by Dota 2, PUBG, Apex Legends, and Grand Theft Auto V. So answer depends on metric, but for concurrent players, Counter Strike 2 is generally considered number 1 game on Steam.
