Fujitsu products are made in multiple countries depending on the product line, but the company is Japanese and its core manufacturing remains in Japan. Fujitsu Limited, the parent company, has its main factories for servers, supercomputers, and enterprise hardware in Japan, including plants in Kawasaki, Mie, and Shimane prefectures. Fujitsu Client Computing Limited, the PC and laptop joint venture majority-owned by Lenovo, manufactures LIFEBOOK laptops in Shimane, Japan at the Izumo factory for high-end Japanese models, and also in China and Taiwan for global models through Lenovo's supply chain. For HVAC products, Fujitsu General air conditioners and heat pumps are primarily made in Japan, Thailand, and China. Its main factory is in Hamamatsu, Japan for premium units, with large-scale production in Thailand at the Prachinburi facility which supplies much of the global market, and in Shanghai, China. Fujitsu scanners, such as the ScanSnap series, are made in Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines. So while the brand is Japanese and engineering and design are centered in Japan, actual manufacturing is global, following the same model as most electronics giants, with high-end and enterprise products kept in Japan and volume consumer products made in Southeast Asia and China.
