Egil Skallagrimsson lived primarily in Borg á Mýrum in western Iceland, a prominent farm estate established by his grandfather. However, due to his turbulent life, political banishments, and mercenary travels, he spent extensive periods living, fighting, and trading across Norway, England, Denmark, and various regions of the British Isles before returning to spend his final years on his Icelandic estate as an aging chieftain.
