Before using a new LG oven for the first time, you should perform several important steps to ensure safety, remove manufacturing residues, and achieve accurate cooking results. First, remove all packaging materials from inside the oven, including cardboard, foam, plastic, zip ties, racks, and any protective film on the exterior and control panel. Check inside the drawer or storage compartment as well. Second, clean the interior with warm soapy water and a soft cloth to remove dust and factory oils, then rinse and dry, and wash the racks separately. Third, perform a burn-in or burn-off cycle to eliminate chemical odors from insulation and protective coatings: ensure kitchen is well ventilated by opening windows and turning on the vent hood, then set the oven to Bake at 400 to 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 to 60 minutes with nothing inside. You may notice some smoke and odor, which is normal and should dissipate. Some manuals recommend running Broil for 10 minutes as well. Fourth, season the oven by allowing it to cool completely after burn-in, then wipe again. Fifth, set the clock and test features: set time, test the oven light, and check that door closes fully and gasket seals properly. Sixth, read the manual for rack positions, as LG ProBake places element at back, so rack placement differs. Finally, run an empty Air Fry cycle if your model has it to burn off that element as well.
