A standard residential concrete driveway should be poured at least four inches thick for normal passenger car traffic. However, if the driveway will regularly accommodate heavy vehicles, large pickup trucks, RVs, or delivery trucks, civil engineers and building codes strongly recommend increasing the slab thickness to five or six inches, reinforced with steel rebar or wire mesh.
