The vast majority of Minnesota's Black and African American population resides within the Twin Cities metropolitan area, encompassing Minneapolis, St. Paul, and their surrounding suburban counties such as Hennepin and Ramsey. While historical migration patterns and community growth have established smaller minority populations in regional hubs like Rochester and St. Cloud, the Minneapolis-Saint Paul urban core remains the cultural, economic, and demographic center for the state's Black communities.
