What is the history of Flymo?
Flymo was created in 1964 following the invention of the hover lawnmower by Swedish inventor Karl Dahlman, who was inspired by the newly developed hovercraft technology invented by Sir Christopher Cockerell. Dahlman engineered a lightweight lawnmower that used a fan to create a cushion of air beneath the machine, allowing it to float smoothly over grass and maneuver easily in any direction without conventional wheels. Production began in the United Kingdom, where the innovative design quickly gained widespread popularity for residential garden care. In 1969, Flymo was acquired by the Swedish appliance manufacturer Electrolux, which expanded the brand's manufacturing and distribution globally. In 2006, as part of Electrolux's outdoor product division spin-off, Flymo became a subsidiary of Husqvarna Group, continuing as a leading brand in electric and battery-powered lawn care equipment.
