Patrick G. (Pat) Ryan is a legendary American billionaire insurance entrepreneur and business executive born in May 1937 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from Northwestern University's School of Business in 1959 with a degree in finance and literature. Early in his career, he pioneered the finance and insurance (F&I) department concept in automotive dealerships before founding Pat Ryan & Associates in 1964. He scaled that enterprise through major mergers, ultimately forming Aon Corporation, where he served as Chairman and CEO for 41 years before retiring and subsequently founding Ryan Specialty.
