Orbital satellite communication refers to the method of relaying telecommunication signals, television broadcasts, internet data, and secure military information by using artificial satellites placed into specific orbits around the Earth. Ground stations transmit radio frequency signals up to a satellite in space, which functions as an orbiting repeater or transponder. The satellite receives the uplink frequency, amplifies the data, translates it to a downlink frequency, and beams it back down to a different geographic region on Earth. This technology enables instantaneous, long-distance communication across oceans, remote deserts, and sparsely populated expanses where traditional land-based fiber-optic cables or cellular networks are structurally impractical or impossible to deploy. Depending on the design requirements, these communication systems utilize low Earth orbit, medium Earth orbit, or geostationary earth orbit constellations to balance latency, coverage area, and signal transmission bandwidth.
