Public liability insurance explicitly excludes several categories of loss, including professional negligence or design errors (which require professional indemnity insurance), intentional or fraudulent acts by the insured, contractual penalties, damage to the contractor's own work or construction materials on-site (covered by builder's risk), employee workplace injuries (covered by workers' compensation or ACC), and liabilities arising from owned motor vehicles on public roads, which must be insured under separate commercial auto policies.
