When building a new home or replacing a roof, the roofing (including shingles and metal drip edge flashing) must always be installed before the gutters. The metal drip edge should extend slightly down over the edge of the fascia board so that water dripping off the roof flows directly into the center of the gutter. Installing gutters first and then trying to slide a roof under or over them creates severe alignment issues, leaks, and compromises the proper water-shedding seal.
