In digital communication and text messaging slang, "to slide" (often phrased as "sliding into DMs") means sending a casual, unexpected direct message to someone on social media platforms like Instagram, X, or Snapchat to start a conversation, flirt, or express romantic interest. It implies moving smoothly and uninvited into someone's private message inbox to catch their attention.
