Carrier is a large American multinational company that designs, manufactures, and sells heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment that controls temperature and air quality in homes, buildings, and for transporting food. Carrier was founded in 1915 by Willis Carrier, who invented modern air conditioning in 1902, and is headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, as Carrier Global Corporation, publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Carrier makes residential products including central air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, air handlers, ductless mini splits, and smart thermostats that cool and heat homes, as well as commercial products like rooftop units, chillers, and building automation systems for offices, schools, and hospitals. Carrier also makes refrigeration systems for supermarkets and for transporting perishable food in trucks and containers. In addition to the Carrier brand, Carrier owns other HVAC brands including Bryant, Payne, and Day & Night. So Carrier's main business is providing climate control solutions that carry cool or warm air to keep indoor environments comfortable and preserve food during transport, and it is one of the world's largest HVAC manufacturers alongside Trane, Lennox, and Daikin, with products sold through authorized dealers.
