A clogged or restricted plumbing drain often produces distinct gurgling, bubbling, burbling, or wheezing sounds as wastewater struggles to pass around hairballs or grease sludge. When air pockets become trapped behind a partial blockage, rushing water forces those bubbles to erupt upward through the water barrier in the P-trap, creating characteristic bubbling noises. In severe main line clogs, you may also hear deep gurgling echoing from floor drains or toilets. Verification: Clear out accumulated hair or grease to eliminate these drainage noises.
