Chile holds the largest proven and economically viable lithium reserves in the world, anchored primarily by the rich brine deposits of the Salar de Atacama. Additionally, Bolivia possesses the world's largest overall identified lithium resources, though extraction there has historically been limited by technical and infrastructural challenges. Together with Argentina, these nations form South America's famous "Lithium Triangle," which accounts for more than half of the planet's total underground lithium resources.
