The hex color code 00FFFF, written as #00FFFF, is a bright, vivid cyan color, also commonly called aqua. In hex color codes, the format is RRGGBB where each pair represents red, green, and blue light intensity from 00 to FF. #00FFFF has 00 red, meaning no red light, FF green meaning maximum green light at 255, and FF blue meaning maximum blue light at 255. Mixing maximum green and maximum blue with no red creates cyan, which is a secondary color in the RGB additive color model and a primary color in the CMYK subtractive model used for printing. Visually, it is a very bright, light blue-green color that looks like the color of tropical shallow water, a clear sky, or the ink in a cyan printer cartridge. It is highly saturated and energetic, often used in digital design, 1980s retro aesthetics, and for highlighting because it stands out strongly against black, white, or dark backgrounds. In web design, aqua and cyan are the official names for #00FFFF. It is also sometimes described as electric cyan or bright turquoise.
