While Newcastle upon Tyne and the wider North East region are typically less dominated by the high-profile celebrity culture found in cities like London or Los Angeles, several notable public figures, athletes, and musicians maintain strong ties to the area. Famous personalities who originate from or reside around Tyneside include legendary musicians Sting and Brian Johnson of AC/DC, acclaimed television presenters Ant and Dec, and various prominent footballers, actors, and comedians who proudly champion their deep Geordie roots and love for the local community.
