Condensation in homes is caused by warm, moisture-laden indoor air coming into contact with cold surfaces such as single-pane windows, uninsulated exterior walls, metal door frames, or unheated roof spaces. When the air temperature drops to or below its dew point upon touching these cold surfaces, it can no longer retain its water vapor, forcing the excess moisture to transform into liquid droplets.
