Washing machine control boards can fail prematurely due to several environmental, mechanical, and electrical hazards inherent to laundry room operations. Because washing machines use water and operate in humid environments, moisture intrusion or condensation can easily seep into the control housing, causing mineral buildup, electrical short circuits, and severe corrosion on microscopic solder traces. Mechanical vibrations from high-speed spin cycles can also weaken solder joints over years of operation, leading to intermittent electrical connections and component failure. Additionally, external power surges, lightning strikes, and unstable household electrical grids can overwhelm onboard surge protection components, frying sensitive microcontrollers and rendering the entire control board permanently inoperable and requiring replacement.
