Several kitchen trends have fallen out of favor as modern design shifts toward timeless, warm, and highly functional aesthetics. Overly ornate Tuscan-style kitchens with heavy faux finishes, dark granite countertops with busy speckling, and distressed or heavily glazed cabinets now look dated and heavy. All-gray kitchens, once immensely popular, are increasingly viewed as cold and sterile, making way for warmer earth tones and natural wood grains. Other declining trends include shiny brass or chrome hardware that shows fingerprints easily, upper cabinets with glass inserts cluttered with knick-knacks, and bulky built-in desk spaces that often become clutter magnets.
