Most standard ceiling fans do not have a physical reset button like you would find on a garbage disposal or GFCI outlet. However, many modern fans, particularly smart fans and fans with remote controls or DC motors, do have a reset procedure or a small recessed button that functions as a reset. For AC motor fans with a remote receiver, the reset is typically done by turning off power at the wall switch or breaker for 30 seconds, then turning it back on and within 30 seconds holding the Fan Off or Pair button on the remote for 5 to 10 seconds until the light blinks. For DC motor fans from brands like Hunter, Casablanca, Minka-Aire, and Big Ass Fans, there is often a more specific reset sequence involving the wall switch and remote to re-pair the receiver and reset the motor logic. Smart Wi-Fi fans like Hunter SIMPLEconnect or Big Ass Fans Haiku have a Wi-Fi reset button inside the canopy or on the top of the motor housing, usually a small pinhole button that you press with a paperclip for 10 seconds to reset network settings. If your fan stopped working after a power outage, performing this power cycle reset often restores normal operation by clearing an error state in the receiver or motor controller.
