The Red Sea itself is a major natural seawater inlet and independent body of water lying between Africa and Asia, bordered by several different sovereign nations, meaning the body of water as a whole does not belong to any single country. However, a significant portion of its eastern coastline, along with its territorial waters and numerous offshore islands, lies directly within the geographical boundaries and sovereign jurisdiction of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
