Assuming you mean Square D as in Square D brand, not Square DA, Square D is considered an excellent breaker panel and is one of the most respected and widely installed brands in the residential and commercial electrical industry. Square D is a brand of Schneider Electric, a global leader in electrical distribution, and has been making panels for nearly a century. Square D offers two main residential lines. The Square D Homeline series is the economical line that is very popular with homeowners and builders because it is affordable, widely available at Home Depot, and reliable for residential use. The Square D QO series is the premium professional grade line that is highly regarded by licensed electricians for its superior build quality, copper bus options, visible trip indicator, and high interrupting capacity. The QO series is often considered one of the best residential panels available and is known for long-term durability and safety. Both lines have good safety records and meet all UL and NEC standards. Compared to other brands like Eaton, Siemens, and GE, Square D panels have excellent availability of replacement breakers and are less likely to be associated with the safety issues that plagued older brands like Federal Pacific or Zinsco. For new installations or panel upgrades, Square D QO is frequently recommended by electricians as a top choice for quality and reliability.
