No, Ring is not free with Amazon Prime, and this is a very common point of confusion. Amazon owns Ring after acquiring it in 2018, but Ring operates as a separate subsidiary with its own subscription model. An Amazon Prime membership does not include a Ring Protect plan, free cloud storage, or free Ring devices. What you do get with Prime is sometimes a discount on the purchase price of Ring hardware. During Prime Day, Black Friday, and other Amazon sales events, Prime members can often buy Ring Video Doorbells, Stick Up Cams, Floodlight Cams, and Ring Alarm kits for 30 to 50 percent off. However, after you install the device, the free tier is extremely limited. Without a paid Ring Protect plan, you can get live view, answer motion alerts, and talk to visitors, but you cannot save video history, review past events, or download clips. To get video history, you need Ring Protect Basic at around $4.99 per month per device, or Ring Protect Plus at around $10 to $20 per month for all devices at one home. Prime does not waive those fees.
