Ring is sometimes cheaper if you have Prime, but not in terms of the monthly monitoring fee. Having Amazon Prime does not lower the cost of Ring Protect subscription plans. Ring Protect Basic still costs around $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year per device, and Ring Protect Plus still costs around $10 to $20 per month whether you are a Prime member or not. Where Prime does save you money is on the upfront hardware. Amazon frequently gives Prime members exclusive or early access to discounts on Ring devices. For example, during Amazon Prime Day in July and Prime Big Deal Days in October, Ring Video Doorbell 4, Ring Battery Doorbell Plus, Ring Stick Up Cam, and Ring Alarm 8-piece kits are often discounted by 40 to 54 percent for Prime members only. You also get free shipping and sometimes extended return windows. Occasionally, Amazon bundles a free trial of Ring Protect Plus for 30 days with a new Ring device purchased on Amazon. So while the ongoing subscription is not cheaper with Prime, the initial cost to get into the Ring ecosystem is significantly cheaper if you buy during Prime member sales events.
