Hardox is not heavier than standard carbon or structural steel because it is, fundamentally, a specialized grade of high-performance steel itself. Its density is virtually identical to conventional structural steel, measuring approximately 7.85 grams per cubic centimeter. However, because Hardox possesses vastly superior hardness, wear resistance, and yield strength compared to ordinary mild steel, engineers and fabricators can design and build equipment components using much thinner and lighter plates without sacrificing structural integrity or durability, thereby reducing overall vehicle and machinery weight while increasing payload capacity.
