EVE Online is fundamentally designed around a continuous, non-consensual open-world PvP philosophy, meaning that true immunity from hostile player interactions does not exist anywhere in its single-shard universe. While the game world is divided into different security ratings—ranging from High-Security (High-Sec) and Low-Security (Low-Sec) to Null-Security (Null-Sec) and Wormhole space (J-space)—players can technically be targeted and attacked in any solar system. In High-Sec space, the AI police force known as CONCORD will inevitably respond and destroy the aggressor’s vessel following an illegal attack, but they do not prevent suicide ganking from occurring beforehand. As a result, every player un-docking from a station accepts implicit PvP risk, requiring situational awareness, cautious navigation, and risk management.
