No, Carrier is not a Canadian company. Carrier is an American company headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and is one of the world's largest HVAC manufacturers. It was founded in 1902 by Willis Carrier in New York, who invented modern air conditioning. Carrier Global Corporation is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange and operates factories worldwide. However, Carrier has a very large presence in Canada, which causes confusion. Carrier Canada is a major subsidiary headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, with manufacturing and distribution operations that have existed for decades, including plants in Collingwood, Ontario and other locations that previously built residential equipment. Carrier also owns International Comfort Products which has Canadian distribution. Many Carrier furnaces and air conditioners sold in Canada are actually assembled in the United States in Indiana, Tennessee, and Texas, and some are assembled in Mexico, then imported to Canada with CSA certification and bilingual labeling. Carrier equipment is sold through Carrier Factory Authorized Dealers across Canada. So while Carrier is deeply entrenched in the Canadian market and employs many Canadians, its ownership, headquarters, and corporate identity are American, not Canadian. It is a US multinational with Canadian operations, similar to Ford or General Motors.
