Installing a new angle stop involves several careful steps to ensure a leak-free connection. First, turn off the main water supply to the house and open a faucet to relieve pressure and drain remaining water from the lines. Place a bucket under the work area to catch any residual water. Use an adjustable wrench to remove the old angle stop from the water supply pipe. Clean the end of the copper or PEX pipe thoroughly with emery cloth to remove any burrs, oxidation, or old debris, ensuring a smooth surface for the new fitting. Slide the new compression nut and ferrule onto the pipe, followed by the angle stop body. Insert the pipe fully into the valve body, ensuring it bottoms out against the internal seat. Hand-tighten the compression nut, then use a wrench to tighten it an additional quarter to half turn. Connect the flexible supply line to the outlet of the angle stop and tighten it securely. Finally, turn the main water back on slowly, check for leaks at both connections, and test the valve by turning it on and off. If any leaks occur, tighten the nuts slightly or replace the ferrule if it was damaged.
