Owens Corning R30 insulation thickness depends on the product line, but for the standard fiberglass batt it is about 9.5 inches thick. Owens Corning EcoTouch and Pink Next Gen R30 batts are manufactured to fit a 2x10 cavity or an attic floor. The product data sheet lists the actual thickness as 9.5 inches or 241 millimeters, with dimensions of 24 inches wide by 48 inches long for the batts, or 16 or 24 inches wide by 96 inches long for rolls, depending on joist spacing. It is important to understand that R-value is directly related to thickness in fiberglass. You cannot get R30 in a thinner batt without changing materials. If you compress this 9.5-inch batt into a smaller space like a 2x6 wall which is 5.5 inches deep or a 2x8 floor which is 7.25 inches deep, it will no longer perform at R30. Compressed to 5.5 inches it performs closer to R20, and compressed to 3.5 inches it performs closer to R13. Owens Corning also makes FOAMULAR XPS rigid foam board where R30 would require 6 inches of XPS because XPS is R5 per inch, and Thermafiber mineral wool where R30 requires about 9 inches as well. For attics, Owens Corning recommends using its AttiCat blown-in fiberglass system to achieve R30 with about 10.5 inches of loose fill rather than using batts.
