International aviation regulations and TSA guidelines permit passengers to pack alcoholic beverages in checked baggage under specific volume and alcohol-by-volume (ABV) limitations. For beverages containing between 24% and 70% ABV (up to 140 proof), there is a net limit of 5 liters (approx. 1.3 gallons) per passenger in unopened, retail packaging. Alcoholic beverages containing less than 24% ABV (such as standard beers and table wines) are not subject to FAA quantity limitations in checked luggage.
