The state of Hawaii is home to a select group of collegiate athletic programs competing at the highest level of intercollegiate sports, with the primary flagship institution being the University of Hawaii at Manoa. The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors and Rainbow Wahine sponsor comprehensive NCAA Division I varsity sports programs across multiple disciplines as active members of conferences like the Big West and the Mountain West. While other local universities exist, the University of Hawaii serves as the primary Division I athletic representation for the state.
