Frozen water pipes will remain completely frozen indefinitely until the ambient temperature surrounding the pipe rises above freezing (32°F or 0°C) or until you actively thaw the pipe using safe supplemental heating methods. If sub-freezing weather persists outside, ice blockages trapped inside uninsulated exterior walls or crawlspaces will not melt on their own. Leaving frozen pipes unattended greatly increases the risk of a catastrophic pipe burst as ice expands. Verification: Apply gentle heat using a hair dryer or heating pad along the frozen pipe section while keeping nearby faucets open.
