Frozen water pipes will remain completely frozen indefinitely until the ambient temperature surrounding the pipe warms above freezing (32°F or 0°C) or until you actively thaw the pipe using safe external heating methods. If freezing weather persists outside, ice blockages trapped inside uninsulated exterior walls, attics, or crawlspaces will not melt on their own. Leaving frozen pipes unattended dramatically increases the mechanical pressure and the risk of a catastrophic pipe burst. Verification: Apply gentle heat using a hair dryer or heating pad along the frozen pipe section while keeping nearby faucets open to relieve pressure.
